Frequently Asked Questions
- What is "Thinkswap Genius"?
Prior to submitting your resource to Thinkswap’s database, ‘Thinkswap Genius’ will analyse your work to determine what it’s about. In doing so, relevant ‘tags’ will be generated allowing other users to find other closely related resources. You would be surprised how many times the same subject/assessment is examined across different universities. This means that you will have access to a wide variety of resources you may not have known about otherwise.
- Why should students use Thinkswap?
Thinkswap is aimed at providing a platform whereby uni students can exchange learning material, with the purpose of improving their education, whilst also rewarding students for their hard work and time spent in creating that work. We at Thinkswap believe that students should be making money from past study notes and assignments that they are proud of and have worked so hard to produce.

- Is it legal to buy and sell academic content?
Yes, it is legal to buy and sell academic content for the vast majority of University students. Subject to your University’s intellectual property policies, if you have created any academic content, you are generally considered to have copyright ownership in that work (as long as you are not a University employee). Accordingly, unless you transfer copyright in writing to another party (e.g. your University), you own and will be entitled to submit your University work for sale - so go for it! It is also permissible to download and buy academic content from other students; the key is how you use it. Thinkswap suggests you use whatever you purchase as a resource tool only to help you complete your course. Keep in mind that Thinkswap bears no liability for users caught infringing upon the copyright of other authors or University plagiarism policies.
